Is Fitbit Air Waterproof? Can we wear it while Swimming
I have seen many of you asking me whether the Fitbit Air is waterproof, so let me clear that up right away, not exactly.
So we can call this Fitbit Air water resistant rather than waterproof, because it can handle water down to a certain depth, which is completely different from the waterproof angle.
There are a few limits which you shouldn’t ignore, as things can go wrong and nobody wants that headache, so in this blog post I’m going to tell you everything about the Fitbit Air’s water resistance rating.

Is Fitbit Air waterproof or water resistant?
So most people get confused between waterproof and water resistant, because they are both similar words but come with a different approach.
So the Fitbit Air has a water resistance rating, it is something like 5 ATM, which means it can handle the pressure of up to 50 m of water depth.

Now I personally tested this a few days back when I went for my swimming classes, and during that I didn’t feel any water get inside the Fitbit Air.
But the safest zone, I would say, is keeping it away from greater water depths. You can use it in the shower, but I would not recommend you use it or wear it every day, because regular contact with water can make it worse.

Can you wear Fitbit Air while swimming?
Yes, you can wear the Fitbit Air while swimming, because it comes with 5 ATM, and that is a safe rating for swimming pool laps or other shallow water activities. You can wear it.
But please make sure not to wear it daily, and the swimming water should be calm. If you are doing high speed water activities like jet diving and so on, then make sure not to wear it.
This is because high speed activities can create a pressure which can go beyond its safety rating, and the impact can cause errors in the Fitbit band.
While swimming, if you feel the temperature is getting hot, or maybe the water is hot, then there is a high risk of getting your Fitbit Air damaged due to the warmth.
What to do if Fitbit Air gets wet?
So if you have used the Fitbit Air in the water and it gets soaked, then don’t panic, because most of the time the band is fine. All you need is to get back on track.
So the first thing you need to do is take a soft cloth and make sure to dry it thoroughly, and the sensor should not get damaged.
If the band went into chlorinated water, then let the band dry first before charging.
Don’t use a hairdryer to dry your Fitbit band, because if it comes near heat, then its sensor could get damaged. Also make sure that your device is not wet while putting it on charge.
Conclusion
So if you are a swimmer, then I would not recommend you keep wearing it regularly, but yes, if you are going swimming once or twice a week, then you can wear it.
As the Fitbit is water resistant, that is enough to use it in daily life. For example, if there is rain or you are getting some sweat, then it is just normal, as it can handle such things.
